Kouturekiss - Eye Poppers Using White And Black Liner To Make Your Eyes Pop

Who doesn’t want bigger looking eyes? Unfortunately a lot of women don’t apply eyeliner correctly, making their eyes appear smaller than they really are. The key is to make your top lash line appear thicker and the whites of your eyes seem larger. The purpose is to open up your beautiful eyes, not enclose them.

  1. Gather your tools (see above).
  2. Start off by curling your lashes with an eyelash curler. Curl them from the base moving it to the middle of your lashes to get that perfect curl.
  3. Line your upper lid with black liquid liner by applying it along your lash line in small stokes as close to you lash line as you can get. This will give you more lid space, giving the appearance of larger eyes. To give your eyes a lift, thicken the liner towards the corner of the lid and extend it a bit, sweeping it up and out. This will help elongate the shape of your eyes and make you look more awake.
  4. Using solid black eyeliner, tightline your upper lash line making sure you fill in the roots of your lashes well. Don’t forget to get the outer corners. Tightlining gives your lash line depth and lashes a full appearance before even having mascara on. Dense lashes define and open up the eyes. The reason I don’t use the gel liner to tightline is because mine tends to transfer to my waterline and we want to keep that area clean. Revlon’s ColorStay eyeliner doesn’t transfer or smudge.
  5. Next apply a white or flesh tone liner to your waterline will give help them look less tired, brighter eyes. I personally prefer a peachy tone because it looks more natural but for this tutorial I’m using a pearly white color called Cottage Cheese by NYX. Applying a black liner to your waterline defines your eyes but doesn’t serve the purpose of making them appear larger.
  6. Using the white eyeliner, wing it out to create a gap in the outer corner separating the bottom and upper lash line by a millimeter. This will also open up your eyes. Marilyn Monroe used this trick all time.
  7. To define your lower lash line, use a dark brown shadow on the out corner of your lashline fading it out towards the middle. Don’t take the shadow all the way to the inner eye duct. This will make your eyes appear closer to each other. To give the illusion of a lower lashline, wing the brown shadow slightly downwards at the outer corner.
  8. Lastly, finish off with black mascara on your top and lower lashes to open your eyes up. This is, in my opinion the most important step to open up your eyes and make them pop.

I just focused on liner itself for this tutorial, but feel free to use this with any look using eye shadow. After all, it’s all about being creative and making it your own.

Kouturekiss - The Copper Smokey Eye For The Green Eyed Girl

Colored shadows can be tricky to work with, but you can’t go wrong with shades of brown and copper since it works well with practically every skin tone and eye color. Browns are great for everyday wear since the natural shadows of your lids are a brownish red. Eyes are the first thing people notice; make them clean, defined, beautiful and not too distracting. You want people to notice you, not your heavy makeup so here’s a way to give your eyes that bit of pop it needs without being overdone. This is a great basic everyday look that can be changed up easily and worn for any occasion.

Step 1: Start with clean eyes and apply primer all over the lid up to your brow bone. Elf Primer is a great alternative to Urban Decay’s Primer Potion. For only 1 dollar compared to a 20 dollar primer, it’s a must have.
Step 2: Apply a red toned brown shadow all over the lid up to the crease with a wide blending brush. Mac’s Brown Script is matte and has great pigmentation with no fallout.
Step 3: Sweep the copper shimmer shadow from the inner corner to the middle of the lid with a small flat shader brush. The middle of your lid is the highest point of the lid and will make your eyes appear larger and add more dimension once it reflects. These Maybelline single shadows have great pigmentation, don’t smudge or crease, and are affordable.
Step 4: Apply brown shadow with a crease brush in outer V blending towards the center of your crease.
Step 5: Use a liner brush to line the bottom lash line with the same brown shadow to define your eyes softly without giving them a harsh line a liner would. Avoid taking it all the way to the inner corners. Focus on the outer corner your bottom lash line blending it towards the middle.
Step 6: Blend the crease shadow between lid and brown bone with a blending brush and a cream shimmer shadow to help it stand out and appear higher.
Steps 7-9: These next steps are totally optional since this look can be worn more naturally without any liner and mascara alone, but I personally prefer liner. Apply a copper toned liner in the waterline and line your upper lash line with a black liquid liner close to the lash line, slightly winging out to elongate the eyes.
Step 10: To finish it off, top it off with mascara on the upper and lower lashes to open up the eyes.

This is an extremely versatile look that can be changed from day to night just by adding more brown to the crease, thickening the line of your liner, adding more coats of mascara, or lining the bottom lash line with a shimmery copper toned shadow or a colored shadow for more drama. Enjoy playing around with this look and trying out copper tones!

There been a trend going around this fall season, and it’s all about thick winged eyeliner. Here, I will show you step-by-step how to achieve a trendsetting eye that will stop you in your tracks!

  1. Start off with a nice clean and primed eye, if you want you can apply a cream color eye shadow for the base.
  2. Line your eyes with your favorite gel/cream eyeliner. I recommend not using a liquid liner because liquid tends to get everywhere if you don’t have a steady hand.
  3. Extended the wing out to your crease.
  4. Draw the shape of your crease connecting the two liners together. This will give your eyes a nice shape.
  5. Take a clean blending brush and blend the eyeliner on top
  6. Fill in the inside of your lid with the gel or cream eyeliner with a small concealer brush.
  7. Blend the crease with black eye shadow.
  8. Add some concealer to your under eye and clean up the side of your lid with a concealer brush.
  9. Next start outlining your bottom lash line as if you were to do so on your top, filling it in, and extend the ends like a wing.
  10. Next apply a coat of your favorite mascara to the top and bottom of your lashes.
  11. Last apply dramatic false lashes to complete this wing eye tutorial.
  12. Volia!

White liner is never thought of as a secret weapon, but girls, let me tell you: if you want your eyes to look awake, large and open, using white eyeliner is just what you need. Lots of brands have white liner, NYC jumbo pencil in Milk is a great choice, as is the one I’m using by E.L.F. MAC has one (as well as flesh toned ones) and copious others. Using the daytime smokey eye as a template, as it is not quite as dramatic, adding the white liner includes a special flair:

  1. Carefully lay your finger under your eye. This is gentler than tugging your eyelid down which is harsh on the delicate area.
  2. Sweep the liner across your waterline, careful not to get any on your lashes. If you do, just add more mascara to mask the white.
  3. Do the same on the other eye, adding more mascara if necessary and say hello to a more wide awake appearance (perfect after those all nighters studying).

Enjoy!
