Any makeup loving girl will know how important our eyelashes our to us, not only to protect our peepers, but to frame them, open them up and flutter in the direction of anything cute! And whilst we all dream of naturally having long, luscious, thick, curly lashes – this just isn’t always the case. Lucky for us, individual False Eyelashes were invented to help us out. Now, they may seem tricky to the inexperienced, but read through this tutorial and give it a try. You’ll have everyone hypnotized!

  1. Open your pack of individual falsies so you can clearly see the different lengths (usually short, medium and long lengths) and get your kit ready. Decide roughly how many lashes you are going to use. A simple way to decide is Less Lashes = Natural, More Lashes = Dramatic. Take a small piece of the tin/aluminium foil and drop a small amount of the eyelash adhesive onto it. This will stop things getting messy and leaving dried glue everywhere. Take your tweezers and carefully pick up one of the shorter lashes and remove from the tray. Dip the knotted (or base) end of the lash into the glue and remove it. Leave this to become tacky for about 10 seconds.
  2. Starting from the inner corner of your eye, place the glued end on top of your natural eyelashes. Press this down and in to place using the other end of your tweezers. Repeat with a second short lash along side the first, then with two medium lashes, then two of the long lashes, moving along to the outer corner of your eye.
  3. If you like the natural lashes look, then you can skip ahead to the eyelash curlers here. If you fancy a little more flutter, start at the inner corner again and add two more of each length lash in with the first ones you applied – Instant drama! Now take your eyelash curlers and lightly curl both the falsies and your natural lashes together – giving them a more uniform curl.
  4. Apply a light coat of mascara to all lashes, and there you have beautiful, full, volume rich, curly eyelashes – the way we all dream of. Be careful not to blow people away when you blink!

Blue eyes are beautiful. I spent a long time wishing my ‘boring’ dark blue eyes were a vivid green or a mysterious brown. But I’ve recently come to realize the beauty of what I’ve got. Blue eyes are dazzling, sweet and clear. And when paired with the right eyeshadow shades, can become striking and vivid.

Here we will take a look at the different colors you blue eyed girls can use to make your eyes really pop!

  • It may not be a blue-eyed girls first instinct to reach for the blue eyeshadow, but when you use an opposite shade to that of your eyes (light blue eyes – dark blue shadow, dark blue eyes – light blue shadow) the blues really begin to compliment each other! Use it on the upper and lower lids to really frame your peepers!
  • Browns are great shades to use for everyday looks. The neutral tones mean people are drawn the flash of color that is your iris, rather than focusing on the makeup.
  • A smokey black eye look will highlight any eye color, but in particular blue. Any color placed alongside black will immediately brighten in comparison. Use heavy black shadow right around the eye to get your eyes sparkling!
  • To pick out the lighter tones in your eyes use a grey shadow. Stormy greys are the most effective, or try a lighter shade to highlight your lower lash line or eyelid crease.
  • Finally, a great shade for an evening look is bronze or copper. These metallic shades really compliment blue eyes without overwhelming them. Perfect for statement makeup without distracting from your natural beauty!

Let’s be honest, this time of year is cold, wet and can get pretty miserable. We all need something to bring a bit of color in to our lives. What would be better than to carry a rainbow with you wherever you go? Instant happiness! Not only that, but a gorgeous eye look to spread cheer wherever you go! So, here we show you how to achieve a multi-colored rainbow eye look!

  1. Firstly, take your lightest shade (yellow) and apply to the inner corner of your eye, just above and below onto your lids too.
  2. Next take your next color (green) and apply this right the way along your lower lash line. If you have an eyeliner pencil in a similar shade, apply this along the waterline.
  3. Use your fluffy blending brush to blend the yellow into the green for a seamless color change. Handy hint: Use small circles to buff the color in.
  4. Take the orange shade and blend it across the upper lid, right up to the crease. Remember to blend it into the yellow shade too!
  5. Now take your final shade (purple) and apply this throughout the crease, and to the outer ‘V’ shape of your eye!
  6. Now go through and make sure that each color is blended into the next, and that the edges are blended outwards to appear softer. Lastly, curl your eyelashes and give them a good few coats of mascara (Black helps your eyelashes really stand out against the rainbow shadows!)

Voila! There you have it, a multi-colored rainbow eye. Sure to catch everyone’s attention! Try it out with different shades and discover what suits you best, there are thousands of color combinations out there, for endless experimenting! Spread a little happiness, and bring a little color into your life!

Halloween is the time of year to really exercise your creativity. But the millions of costume ideas and the pricey supplies can get a little overwhelming. So here are three cheap and cheerful (and easy) Halloween makeup ideas to scare your friends and not your wallet!

The Black Cat

  1. Our first (and most simple!) look is the Black Cat. Start with your usual base or foundation.
  2. Next, use your black liquid liner to line your eyes, top and bottom, giving them a feline flick at both the inner and outer corners.
  3. It’s just a case of adding kitty cat features now. Still using the liner, draw a line from the bottom of your nose to the centre of your top lip cupid’s bow. Draw dots either side of this line, to look like whiskers!
  4. Draw a small line across the tip of your nose. Take your pink lipstick and blend a little beneath this line, just on the tip of your nose.
  5. Finally, add a few wispy eyebrow hairs using the liner, at the inner corner of your brows.

Purr-fect!

The Skull Face

  1. Our next look is the Skeleton, or Skull face. Take a basic white face paint or greasepaint  and cover your entire face in it. Lips, brows – everything needs to be covered. You can use a brush, sponge, anything for this.
  2. Using the black shadow to draw in all the features, shade in the eye sockets, the temples, and contour the cheekbones again. Remember to blend your edges for a more realistic look!
  3. Take your liquid liner and draw a small jagged ‘crack’ shape extending down from one eye onto the cheek.
  4. Using the liner again, use your lips as a guideline as to where your teeth would be (if you had no skin!) Draw some teeth along the lips and darken with the shadow again for more depth.

The Bloody Mary

  1. Our last look is a Ghostly Lady or Bloody Mary. Moisturize your face, and while still moist, dust cornflour or cornstarch all over your face, making sure to cover your brows, lashes and lips too. This will make you look deathly pale!
  2. Take your black shadow and begin to lightly dust dark circles around your eyes, following the outline of your eye socket, getting darker closer to the eye. You can add some purple shadow here if you wish to get a little more spooky!
  3. Take a little more black shadow on a blusher brush and dust a line from your ear, downwards following your cheekbone. Blend this in and you’ll see how gaunt and hollow you begin to look!
  4. Finally, take some fake blood and dab a little just under your nostrils. Smear some on your lips and out of the corner of your mouth. Let it drip a little for a realistic effect.

(Helpful hint – If you want to save even more money you can mix maple syrup with red food coloring for tasty homemade fake blood!)

There you have it! Some very cheap but very effective makeup and product ideas. You can use any of these suggestions to try out your own looks or change them and make them your own. Happy Halloween!
