To make that pout extra pouty, follow these steps:

  1. Line your lips with a lip liner that is similar to your natural lip color. I used a mauve color and lined around my lips adding extra contour around the cupids bow (top lip), and right below my bottom lip for some extra shadow. This will make the outline of your lips appear fuller and as if you have bigger lips.
  2. Apply a similarly toned lipstick to match the lip liner and your lip shade.
  3. The most essential step is to add a shiny lip gloss with your finger directly to the center of your bottom lip. This “wet” effect makes your lips appear fuller and more full, giving you that kissable pout.

Contouring your eyes is the most simple way to create depth to your eyes, without wearing much makeup at all.

  1. This minimal makeup look will be the most subtle way to create depth to your eyes without doing a full eyeshadow routine.
  2. Start with a primed eye that is prepped for eyeshadow.
  3. Choose a color that is flattering for your eye color, and natural. If you have brown eyes, a neutral brown will work (MAC Wedge is a good option), and if you have blue eyes a lighter brown (Urban Decay Naked) would be good.
  4. With a fluffy blending brush, work the product from the outer edge of the eye into the middle of the eye in a windshield wiper motion. Continue to blend the color back and forth until you see the eyeshadow evenly distributed across the lid.
  5. Add mascara to the look to create a well rounded eye look, with minimal work.

If I could choose one piece of makeup to have with me at all times, it’d be concealer. I have hereditary under eye circles, which I always cover to brighten up my face. Many people struggle with covering their under eye circles, or “bags”. Follow these tips, which work like a charm for me when covering those pesky circles.

  1. First, choose a shade of concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation and skin tone. This is so that instead of just concealing your bags, you’re brightening as well.
  2. Pat the concealer with your ring finger in small dots around the eyes.
  3. Gently pat the concealer into your skin until it disappears, make sure to get the inner corner of the eyes, the rim of the eyes, and just beneath the eyes where the circles begin.
  4. Apply the concealer onto your eyelids to even out the look, and enhance the brightening effect of the concealer. Set the concealer with powder both under the eyes and above to ensure long wearing makeup. Once you put your foundation on, it will even out the look of the concealer, and look more natural when it is all set and powdered.

Nautical themes are always on trend for summer. For this look I took inspiration from the M.A.C. collection “Hey Sailor”. The look is nautical with a smoky eye in navy blue, and a little hint of white that screams I’m ready to rock the boat.

Here is the simple how to:

  1. Start with a primer as always to ensure a long lasting look. I use Too Faced Shadow Insurance, or Mac Paint Pot in Painterly. Apply a flesh toned eye shadow to start with a light base for the navy shades. Apply all over lid up to brow bone.
  2. Place a dark navy shadow in the crease and begin to blend inward toward the iris of the eye. Keep blending until it is diffused. Apply a lighter blue shade right in the middle of the lid for a little extra dimension.
  3. Bring the darker eye shadow down onto the lash liner, as apply as a liner, while also smoking it out with the lighter blue shade. Apply a white eye shadow to the inner corner of the eyes and blend outward. Think a white to navy gradient.
  4. Falsies can be the easy fix to a subtle makeup look. Putting them on is easier then you think. Apply a thin strip of lash glue to the base of the false lash. (Make sure it is not clumpy nor thick and goopy.) Allow to dry for about 30 seconds while the glue becomes tacky.
  5. Apply as close to the lash line as possible while pressing firmly on the lashes so they adhere to your lash line. Keep your eye closed for about 10 seconds while the lash glue bonds the lash to your lash time.
  6. Add two coats of mascara and cover the false lash line with liquid black eye liner.

Finish with a bat of the eye and get ready for summer with this smoky look!

Frequently, bronzer and blush get mistaken for interchangeable products, but they each have a place on the face to create a polished makeup look.

The purpose of bronzer is to warm the face, as well as create shadows which can make the face appear slimmer (especially for round face shapes like mine). It can also be referred to as contouring when you are specially using the bronzer to give the face dimension and slim it.

Bronzer belongs right below the cheekbone, in the hollows of the cheeks. To find this, make a fish face and where you feel the indent below the cheekbone take a fluffy brush and place bronzer on each side of the face. Also use it around the temples, and across the bridge of the nose and chin. This will give the face a slightly tanned look. I used Smashbox Hydrating Halo Bronzer.

With blush, depending on your face shape, there are two places you can put it. For a round or oval face shape, you should place the blush right above the bronzer contour brushing it back towards the ears. Most face shapes can also pull off blush on the apples of the cheeks, which gives the face a more youthful look and can make it appear rounder if that is your desire. I put mine a little further behind the apples, and I used MAC blush in Springsheen.

To make sure the placement is not streaky or too muddy looking take a clean kabuki, or with a little translucent powder blend the blush and bronzer so they appear softer and more natural. Take my tips to make the most of your makeup arsenal, when you ask yourself bronzer or blush today, the answer is both!
