Kouturekiss - The Braided Headband

Hello everyone! Today I am back showing you all how to do the braided headband. This is a super cute spring and summer look that many celebrities wear during the season. It’s chic and steps up any outfit you wear whether it is for the beach, lazy day at home, a quick shift at your summer job, or on a cute date. And guess what? You can get this look in under just five steps and 5 minutes and you can be out the door ready for the day.

Steps 1 & 2: Brush out your nappies. Tangles are not idle for this hair tutorial and you need to have nice smooth hair so that your braid comes out not to frizzy. (You can wear this look with curly hair as long as your curls are not frizzy.)

Step 3: Pick a strand of hair from the underneath side of your hair so you can hide the start of the braid. (Hint: Girls with short hair don’t fret you can get a simple extension piece for as cheap as $9 from Ulta which is where I picked mine up at. They look really nice and are good quality.)

Step 4: Now start braiding your hair piece. I am doing the traditional braid;however, the fishtail braid is cute this way too. I have tried both and they are both a very big hit. And tie it off with a clear elastic.

Step 5: Now just bobby pin it into place on the underneath of the opposite side of your head. Just like a headband would look. (Blondes here is a tip use a clear bobby pin so you can hide the braid easier.)

Voila! Your simple chic braided headband is complete. How simple was that?! I love wearing this look and I get tons of compliments on it. I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial and leave in the comments below if you tried it and what are some other ways to wear braids that you like.

5 Shades Of Lips For Brunettes

Have your ever just changed your hair color so dramatically and now you can’t figure out what lipsticks to wear? I just recently had this problem switching to bright blonde to a very dark brunette. I have fixed my little problem and thought I would share my top 5 new lipsticks that look great with my newly dyed dark brunette hair.

  1. MAC’s ‘Charmed I’m Sure’ from the Marilyn Monroe Collection. It is a beautiful blue red that is matte and gives a very 1950’s look when it contrasts with your dark tresses. MAC’S Russian Red is a very good duplication for this product.
  2. MAC’s ‘Diva’. This color is a deep burgundy that looks great on multiple skin tones and with many different hair colors. It looks beautiful and the dark lip contrast with your dark hair ever so nicely and looks great anytime of the year.
  3. MAC’s ‘Creme Cup’ is a light baby pink that will enhance your lips and just give them a flush of pink and it is great for everyday use when you want that girl next door look.
  4. MAC’s ‘Pure Zen’ is again from the MAC Marilyn Monroe collections and it is a great peachy nude that is great when you want a nude lip, but don’t want that dead look that some nude lipsticks can give. This looks great with a smokey eye.
  5. Last, but certainly not least it my favorite lipstick and it is a Coco Rouge Shine from Chanel in the color ‘Boy’ it a a dusty rose nude with a slight gold glitter that acts as that lipstick that is your lip color, but better. I love this for every day from work to school to just being lazy around the house.

How simple was that? 5 lipsticks that are staples in my collections, because you can do so much with these colors. What are your favorite lipsticks? Let me now so I can find some more and let me know if any of you have tried these lipsticks and what you think about them!

Kouturekiss - The Half-Up Hair Bow

Have you ever looked at a picture of Lady Gaga and thought “I really wish I could have a hair bow like that, but that it is too crazy for me to wear on a regular day.”  Well, wish no more, beautiful, here is a cute and girly way to wear a hair bow without it being over dramatic. It will keep the guys guessing and the girls wanting to know how you did it! If you are interested on how to master this fun hairstyle, read on!

  1. Brush your hair and make sure that all of your tangles and knots are out of your hair. Part it at the top and tie it off with a hair tie.
  2. Take your favorite heat protectant and spray your hair with it to help protect your hair from the heat that will soon be applied to it.
  3. Take a strand a pin it about your hair just to keep it out of the way until you will need it later in the tutorial.
  4. Divide your ponytail into to 2 parts equally and take your curling iron and curl the 2 sections of the ponytail. Curl inward (this will help you create your bow with ease).
  5. Tease the ponytail to add some volume so it doesn’t look so flat.
  6. Next, you will want to grab on half of your ponytail and wrap it inward and grab a bobby pin and pin it to the back of your head. Place 2 bobby pins above and below just to make sure that it is firmly secure.
  7. Now do the exact same thing to the other side.
  8. Finally – the magic! Take the last strand that we pinned up at the beginning of the tutorial and bobby pin it down to make the center of your bow.
  9. To finish, lightly spray your new hairstyle to ensure everything stays securely in place.

Voila! Seriously, now how simple was that? Note: if you have lighter hair you may have to tease a bit more and use clear bobby pins and hair elastics. I hope you all enjoyed this tutorial. Let me know you mastered this in the comment section below!

Kouturekiss - A Dark And Smoldering Eye For The Light Skinned Blue Eyed Girl

Today I am going to be showing you how to get a sexy sultry smokey eye. I was inspired by Jennifer Love Hewitt who defines sexiness and is known for her sultry smokey eyes. So instead of focusing on just a basic black smokey eye I wanted to do a golden, bronzy eye that suits light skin tones and light-colored eyes.

  1. The first thing you are going to want to do is Prime your eye. This will help your eyeshadow stay all day or all night. I am using the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, but any primer you enjoy will do. You are going to need the Urban Decay Naked palate  This will help create this amazing look. You are going to want to take a stiff shadow brush and use Half Baked from the palette and place the shadow on the inner half of the lid. Then you are going to take the shadow right next to it in Smog on the other side of that stiff brush and place that on the outer half of your lid.
  2. Take a stiff crease brush and you are going to take the color “Naked” and apply that in the crease and a little bit above the crease to help blend everything.
  3. Use the color “Creep” and apply that to the outer “V” which is the outer part of the crease and blending it to the eye lid. Which will add to the smokey effect on the eye.
  4. Now you are going to take the lightest color in the palette which is Virgin and apply that top your brow bone to highlight it.
  5. Next, take whatever black eyeliner you want and apply that to your upper lash line and your lower waterline.
  6. Apply your favorite volumizing mascara to fill out your lashes.
  7. Take a smudging brush with creep and apply that to your lower lash line and then take a big fluffy brush with Virgin and apply that to your inner corner.

How easy was that?! This look is great for day or night time, and suits so many shades of blue eyes. This look can easily be changed with a great set of false lashes and a few coats of mascara! I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and have fun playing with your bronzy smokey eyes.
