Kouturekis _ The Cut Crease

We’re seeing the cut crease slowly start to take over the Internet in the makeup scene… looks hard, huh? It’s not! Here’s a simplified version of a purple cut crease!

  1. Prime the eye from top to bottom, and underneath the eye as well. I used MAC’s Paint Pot in Soft Ochre, with my finger.
  2. Apply a light, matte e/s underneath the eyebrow with a flat brush, for a more opaque application. I used a MAC e/s in Brule, with a MAC #242 brush.
  3. Apply a medium intense, warm, orangey brown in your crease with a fluffy brush. I used a MAC e/s in Brown Script with a MAC #224 brush.
  4. Draw a line following your eye shape above your natural crease with a black pencil. The line doesn’t have to be perfect, because it will get blended out in the next step. I used Engraved pencil from MAC.
  5. Using a small, flat, synthetic brush, blend out the fake crease. I had to keep layering more eyeliner, and blend out, to create a smoother and darker blend.
  6. Blend in a matte color of your choice, over the black, and higher, with a tapered blending brush. Fig. 1 e/s is my favorite, used with a #217 brush, both from MAC
  7. Place a frosty shadow on the lid with a paw shaped brush, and pull out a little to create a more feline look. These two are Pink Freeze e/s and #239 from MAC.
  8. I like my eye very smokey underneath, so I used the #217 brush to apply Fig. 1 e/s.
  9. Then using black eyeshadow, I used the small flat brush again (#242) to apply black closer to my bottom lash line. The eyeshadow is Carbon from MAC.
  10. Add a black pencil in your waterline, and winged liner. I used #77 gel liner from Inglot, and a #263 brush from MAC.
  11. Don’t forget mascara, and your favorite false lashes to complete the look!

Kouturekiss - The Night Owl Eye Look

Want a dramatic eye, but don’t want to bother with eyeshadow? Try doing a winged liner look, but take it a little further….

I used Inglot gel liner in #77, and angled MAC brush #263. I love this liner because it’s the blackest I’ve ever used and waterproof. This is my favorite brush because it’s very precise, and the synthetic hairs give a smooth and thin application.

Step 1. Starting with a matte eye, use your synthetic angle brush with the tip pointing away from the eye, to lay down your first line.
Step 2. Go back to the line, and drag the liner across the entire lid to the inside of the eye. The bigger the better, dont be scared! It’ll feel weird but it’ll look beautiful! Connect with the front of the eye.
Step 3. This will create an outline of your liner, so you can fix the shape or clean up any mistakes at this point. It’s much easier to correct the lines at this point rather than at the end.
Steps 4 & 5. Fill in!
Step 6. Apply black liner to your waterline
Step 7. Finish with a coat or two of your favorite mascara.
Voila!

Kouturekiss - Getting Lippy For The Dark Skinned Girl

In order to “master” something, you need to take a little time to perfect what you’re going for. Quick makeups are great, but like anything, perfection takes time!

  1. Start with a clean lip. Wipe off any chapstick or oily residue.
  2. Outline top lip with a red lipliner (a thick line), I used Cherry from MAC.
  3. Outline bottom lip.
  4. Take the outline through the corners of the lip.
  5. Shade in the corners of the lip about halfway. This will give the lip a more contoured look, especially if you naturally have a fuller lip.
  6. It should look like this.
  7. Apply a lighter shade lipstick in the middle. I used Lady Danger, also from MAC.
  8. Rub together to blend
  9. Use lipliner to solidify your original line, and to blend the lipstick together with the liner.
  10. Take a full coverage powder or concealer on a flat brush. I used Studio Fix Powder and a #242 brush from MAC.
  11. Use to make your edges more crisp.
  12. Voila!

p.s. Don’t blow off the lipliners ladies! Lipliner is so important for a clean, bold and sexy lip! It makes the lip look like a stamp on the face, and it also helps to keep those beautiful colors from bleeding! Good luck!
