You saw the ads about Maybelline being the official makeup sponsor of New York Fashion Week, and if you watch Project Runway, you’ve been saturated with advertisements for L’Oreal and Garnier. But did you know that OPI nail polishes were featured in four NYFW shows?
While fashion weeks are undoubtedly about the clothes, the beauty trends are essential too – styling can make or break a designer’s work. Bloggers love writing about hair and makeup trends seen on the runway, but one of the most-covered beauty looks at fashion weeks is nail polish. Whether it’s a simple pale shade or funky nail art, runways influence the nail habits of fashion editors and average women alike. Lucky for you CK girls, we’ve got inside info from the folks at OPI about the shows that used their famous polishes!
At BCBG Max Azria, models wore the cult classic Samoan sand on their fingers and toes. Beauty editors constantly rave about this barely-there neutral, and it works for fall just as well as it does for spring. And, yes, that was One Tree Hill’s Sophia Bush in the audience!
For the Jason Wu show, stylists used Monsooner or Later on models’ fingernails and Samoan Sand on their toenails. We hope Glee’s Lea Michele liked what she saw!
Taylor Swift favorite Rebecca Taylor hopped on the OPI trend too, with her models in Stranger Tides on their fingers and Tickle My France-y on their toes. Sophia Bush, Whitney Port and Ashley Tisdale – along with her younger sister – all came out to see Taylor’s designs.
In one of the last shows at NYFW, Max Azria’s Herve Leger turned to OPI for beauty help as well. Models wore Coney Island Cotton Candy on both fingernails and toenails. It was a Gossip Girl reunion for Jessica Szohr and Katie Cassidy, both of whom have left the show.
With all of OPI’s collections, it’s impossible to choose a favorite. But with these runway-inspired shades, you’ll be on-trend this season! Let us know your favorite OPI colors or runway nail art in the comments section below.
