Drugstore Lifesavers: The Best Quick Fixes To Find At Your Drugstore

We all know from time to time every girl needs a little rescuing-beauty style. If you don’t have the time, or the cash, to trawl around expensive retailers, the drugstore becomes your best friend. A treasure trove of gems, it houses those necessary items we often forget are our everyday lifesavers. It really is a quick-fix haven!

But what are those items we so often overlook? When we’re running around because we’re late to an interview, a social occasion, or a dinner date it’s easy to forget how integral these fix-it bits and pieces are. Don’t worry girls, CocoKouture is here to highlight those lifesaving products!

The first product that has helped every girl out of a hair related disaster (at least once) is dry shampoo. With the ability to totally transform hair between washes, dull and greasy locks can be banished with just one spray. Most cans are small enough to fit in handbags so if your tresses are feeling drab, simply spritz, brush, and go. There are several brands, such as Batiste, that manufacture for individual hair types and styles. Batiste also manufacture regular and on-the-go size cans. They are my personal favorite! In addition to the shampoo savior, bobby pins come in extra handy. Often forgotten about because they are easily lost, they neatly hold hairstyles for hours on end. If you’ve got that one trailing tress, like I often do, I find having a supply of these in my bag has helped on more than one stressful occasion for a quick fix or simple style.

Now what about all-important moisturizing? The number one lifesaving product I can recommend is lip balm. Small, compact, and necessary, I can’t count the amount of times I’ve been sitting and waiting for something and realized my lips are chapped and looking (and feeling) disastrous. From the old favorite Carmex to the small round tins of Vaseline- they should never be overestimated as a beauty product. I even took my little pot of Vaseline to a festival this summer – it came in handy during the hot days, and helped to keep my glittery decorations in place! Drugstores also often stock healing and moisturizing ointments such as Aquaphor or Burts Bees. If you have dry or cracked skin, minor scrapes or burns, these products prove vital in restoring healthy looking skin.

Another product I find helpful is ready-to-use waxing strips, such as the ones that Veet offer.  If I haven’t had the time to shave, or visit a salon, these come in super handy. No need for wax, these can literally be applied and in minutes you are left with silky smooth skin. They last for quite some time as well and are often infused with vitamins and oils to protect and nourish your skin. A quick fix for an unwanted hair day, like a spontaneous day-trip the shore!

The drugstore is also the one place I turn if I need a nail pick-me-up, in a hurry! Stocking an array of polishes, and new stylized effects, you can also find some nail treatments such as hardener and strengthener to complete the look and take care of your hands at the same time. To finish off your manicured look, check out Sally Hansen nail strips. They are pre-styled foils for nails and come in a variety of super cool designs. They take the minimum of effort to apply, and they transform your hands completely. They last fairly long (longer than Sephora brand nail art) and are removed simply by using nail polish remover.  The only problem you could encounter with these are the kinks as you lay the transfer onto your nail; however, steady hands and a hairdryer should solve this problem.

Perhaps the most genius of quick-fix products is concealer. Concealers are manufactured in all foundation ranges and they provide a neat and tidy covering of blemishes, dark circles, and imperfections. I can’t count the number of times I have gone to work, organized dinner and drinks after, and needed to apply concealer to cover the imperfections on my skin that arise after a full days work. From matte sticks to liquid treatments, you are sure to find your perfect match amongst the many brands available.

So remember girls, if you don’t have the time, or cash, the drugstore really is your best option. A haven of quick-fix items that can get you back on top of your beauty regimen. Now CK have highlighted some of the essential products, you should never again get caught in a beauty SOS!
