Milkmaid braids are making their mark in the beauty trend department! With tons of varieties to choose from, it’s a little tough to decide on a version that fits you. Keep in mind, they can be dressed up and polished for a glam appearance or worn loose and messy for a casual, laid back look. Whichever you prefer, follow the steps below to master milkmaid braids!

  1. Have hair down and brushed out to remove any tangles. Tip: Your hair can be wavy, curly or straight. This hair style works well on all!
  2. Take a section of hair from underneath your hair. Try to grab the section that sits behind your hair.
  3. With that section of hair, make a three strand braid and secure with an elastic. Repeat step two and three on the other side of your hair.
  4. Take one of the braids and wrap it around the front of your head. (Wear you would usually wear a headband.) Secure with a bobby pin. Repeat step 4 with the other braid.
  5. Tease the hair that is behind the braids to give yourself a nice volume base to work with. From here you can leave hair down as is, or you can pin up in a chic bun.

Once you’ve finished your Milkmaid Braids, you can get creative with how you’ll end this look. Whether you finish with your hair down, a bun, or even a low ponytail, this is a hair style that is sure to get attention!
