All things ‘vintage’ are in high demand. This doesn’t mean you have to limit yourself to clothing and accessories, you can also apply the look to your hair. The vintage bun is a great option if your looking for an easy, elegant up-do. With a few added steps, you can give your average bun a glamourous kick. Follow the steps below to see how!

- Start with loose, wavy hair.
- The trick to give your bun a vintage glam – volume! Take the top section of your hair and tease, tease, tease!
- Gather the rest of the hair about mid way on your head and secure with an elastic.
- Secure any loose or hanging sections of the bun with bobby pins.
- Finish off your look with a lace or printed head wrap or headband!
There you have it! With a little (or a lot!) of volume and key accessories, you’ve taken your typical bun and gave it a vintage glam appeal!

Some hair styles can be a little intimidating. When the end result looks pretty and intricate, we always assume the process will be complicated. A great example is the twisted bun. Super cute and feminine, and believe it or not, very easy to do! Follow the steps below and see for yourself!
- Pin up the top half of your hair up out of the way with a clip.
- Secure the rest of your hair in a low simple bun.
- Start taking sections from the sides of your hair and twirling around your finger. Then pin into the bun with a bobby pin. Continue this step with all of the side pieces.
- Tease hair at the top of your head and pin in place!
Once complete, for a softer look, you can pull and loosen the pieces around your face. Feel free to also once over any hanging pieces with a curling iron. Then, finish with some hairspray and you’ll be elegantly out the door!

The bun has become a very versatile hairstyle. With so many versions to choose from, it can be hard o pick your favorite. While they all differ, the one thing they have in common is they are all pretty simple to do! A great example of a cute (and simple) bun, is the braid wrapped bun! Follow the steps below to achieve this simple ‘do’!
- Start with hair loose and down. Brush out all knots.
- Gather hair in a high ponytail.
- Divide hair into two sections.
- Braid each section and tie off with elastics.
- Wrap the braids around into a bun shape and secure with bobby pins!
- Add a cute bow to finish off the look!
Voila! This style is super simple and looks great with the added texture of the braids! Feel free to add a bow or clip to dress up your bun once complete!

While new hair trends are constantly popping up, sometimes the best place to look for a great hair stlye is the past! Loose vintage waves are a classic and sexy look that will never go out of style. The best part is that this look is super easy to achieve. Follow the steps below!
Step 1: Start with straight hair.
Step 2: Section off your hair starting at the bottom and working your way up.
Step 3: With a curling iron, take a section of hair and curl in/under towards you, creating a tight ringlet.
Step 4-8: Repeat step 3-9 on the rest of your hair. Curl your hair in towards you, not outwards (otherwise it will flip).
Step 9: Once all hair is in ringlets, using a brush, gently brush out all ringlets. (See final look soft brushed look at step 10)
Step 11: Take your curling iron on the ends of hair and give one final curl flipping hair in/under towards you.
Once finished, you should be left with loose vintage waves that are old school beauty icon worthy! For added glam, add a red pouty lip and you’ll feel red carpet ready!

The cousin to the ever popular ombre is the ever stylish gradient. If we’re talking math terms here, gradient simply means the variation of space by a quantity represented on a slope. And by slope I totally mean your nails. I’m using glitter to create my gradient, three to be exact, as I encourage you to use at least two or more glitters for this look. Now let’s get into it!

- Apply a base colour coat to your nails and allow it to fully dry. Following that by applying a thin line to the tips of your nails with a darker shade of your base coat. Now, don’t go too dark as this colour will peak in through your glitter. This line just adds a bit more depth to the gradient without piling on so much glitter which can get clumpy. (more…)

If you’re looking to make a splash this summer, look no further than the classic french fishtail braid. While there are many variations of this braid, the original definitely holds it’s ground. Follow the steps below!

- Start with loose hair.
- To make this braid easier, gather your hair to one side and secure tightly with an elastic.
- Divide hair into two sections. With this braid, you’ll transfer a piece from one section to the other. You will start and finish with only two sections.
- Keep taking one piece from one side and gather to the other. (For the best results, use small pieces!)
- Once complete, secure the end of the braid with an elastic. Remove the elastic from the top of the braid.
There you have it! This braid looks way more complicated than it actually is. But in reality, with only two pieces, this is one of the easiest braids to do! Enjoy!

When I think of 1-inch-curls I think of Taylor Swift. Luckily, her curls are simple to achieve, even with fine hair. I recommend using a 1-inch-curling rod to get the look. (I use the Conair Infinity Rod and it runs for $25-30 at drug stores)

- Start off by using a heat protectant throughout your hair to protect from any damage.
- Next, spray some moose into your palms.
- Take the moose and massage it into your roots to add volume and to make the curls hold better. This is an important step for girls with fine hair because without having anything to hold them together, curls will easily fall out.
- Part your hair where it naturally parts (mine is right down the middle) and clip up one half to get it out of the way. (more…)

Prep your nails (get it? Because its plaid) for this fun manicure. The technique here is very simple, but fun and innovative. It deals with nail tape! It involves regular tape and the contrast colour for your plaid. This technique can be used for more than just plaid. If you have a hole puncher in fun shapes, the world is your oyster.

- Get your tools ready. You’ll need scotch tape, scissors, black nail polish, and a base coat polish.
- Paint as closely to the edge of the piece of tape as you can with the nail polish.
- Allow it to fully dry and then with your scissors carefully cut out thin strips.
- With your base coat in place – mine being red – being to lay out the strips on your nail with the help of a pair of tweezers.
- Press down on the tape to ensure it is adhered to your nail.
- With your scissors, remove all of the hanging pieces around the nail.
- Top with your top coat, and viola! And easy way to make your nails pop.

Just like everything else ombre, the lip ombre look is totally in for the season. Just like ombre hair, ombre lips change a look while adding a fun, unique touch. However, unlike ombre hair, lips are simple to create and obviously temporary. So if you’re trying to make ombre moves, the lip ombre is a really easy place to start.

Here’s how to achieve the look:
- Start off by lining your lips with any lip liner – just to give a template for where the rest of the colors will go. The color will not show up much so it does not need to perfectly match any of the following lipsticks used.
- Apply a red lipstick to your upper lip (possibly using a lip brush to get inside of the lip lines). Follow this step by applying a bright watermelon shade to the bottom lip. (Image 1)
- Apply a red gloss to your upper lip and a bright pink gloss to the bottom lip. The glosses will make the blending of the two colors much easier, while the lipsticks applied before will serve more as a base. (Image 2)
- Lightly blend your upper and lower lips by tapping them together once to exchange some of each color. This will also make the blending process easier and make it appear more natural.
- Apply a glittery, light-reflecting pink shade in the center of your bottom lip to give the true ombre touch. Continue blending the colors together until you have the desired gradient, keeping the glittery pink shade centered on the lower lip. (Image 3)
- Once you have a natural blending between the red and pink shades you are good to go! Work with the colors for a while and feel free to reapply any glosses that may have lost their true color in the blending process.
A little bit of advice regarding the application of the rest of your makeup: keep it simple! Make the lips pop by keeping the rest of the colors used in your makeup application muted and simple. This will ensure that your lip is not only the center of your look, but that your overall look is not too overwhelming.
Have fun experimenting!

To make that pout extra pouty, follow these steps:
- Line your lips with a lip liner that is similar to your natural lip color. I used a mauve color and lined around my lips adding extra contour around the cupids bow (top lip), and right below my bottom lip for some extra shadow. This will make the outline of your lips appear fuller and as if you have bigger lips.
- Apply a similarly toned lipstick to match the lip liner and your lip shade. (more…)

The biggest mistake we can make with our hair is doing the same hair styles over and over again! In order to amp up your ‘do’, opt for a style thats bold and unique! There is no better way to show your hair some lovin’ than by mastering the ‘Heart Braid‘. See steps below!
- Section off the front of your hair. You’re going to make two separate braids that when complete and joined will resemble a heart!
- Grab a section of hair towards the back of your head.
- Begin french-braiding forward, (towards your forehead) instead of backward.
- Continue to french braid along your hairline, until you reach your ear. From here, continue braiding regularly. (more…)

If I could choose one piece of makeup to have with me at all times, it’d be concealer. I have hereditary under eye circles, which I always cover to brighten up my face. Many people struggle with covering their under eye circles, or “bags”. Follow these tips, which work like a charm for me when covering those pesky circles.
- First, choose a shade of concealer that is one shade lighter than your foundation and skin tone. This is so that instead of just concealing your bags, you’re brightening as well.
- Pat the concealer with your ring finger in small dots around the eyes.
- Gently pat the concealer into your skin until it disappears, make sure to get the inner corner of the eyes, the rim of the eyes, and just beneath the eyes where the circles begin.
- Apply the concealer onto your eyelids to even out the look, and enhance the brightening effect of the concealer. Set the concealer with powder both under the eyes and above to ensure long wearing makeup. Once you put your foundation on, it will even out the look of the concealer, and look more natural when it is all set and powdered.
