Step 1: The first step in any hairstyle involving a heat tool is to prep your hair. I used TRESemme Keratin Smooth Heat Protection Shine Spray first, followed by a light misting of TRESemme Ultra Fine Mist Hair Spray. I find that prepping my hair with hairspray helps the curls to hold better. The secret to a classic wave hairstyle is a small barrel curling iron, a clip-less one that is. I will be using my Cortex 4 in 1 curling iron set with the smallest barrel which is a 1/2-1″. Now on to the fun part! (more…)

The fishtail braid may look elaborate but—here’s a secret—it’s surprisingly easy to do! Follow these simple steps to achieve the perfect go-to on rushed mornings:
Steps 1 & 2: Start by brushing your hair—for a messier braid, opt for using your fingers, instead of a brush, to detangle hair while preserving hair’s natural texture.
Step 3: Create a ponytail with an elastic (Psst! This is the secret that makes this braid simple to do).
Step 4: Separate the pony tail into two sections. (more…)

Between contouring, highlighting, and other beauty buzzwords right now it can seem a bit confusing when it comes to cheeks! Pulling out all the stops is fun for special occasions but on a daily basis it’s nice to simplify. Here are 3 products to add to your routine to get that perfectly sculpted cheek everyday!
- To start, you’ll need a matte bronzer, a shimmery highlighting powder, a blush, and an angled brush and a blush brush.
- Start with your angled brush, swirl it into your matte bronzer and apply in a line to the hollows of your cheeks. Sweep it back and forth so it’s blended.
- Dust off your same brush and sweep your highlighting powder on the tops of your cheekbones.
- Take your blush brush and apply your colour starting on the high point of the “apple” of your cheek. Don’t know where the apple of your cheeks are? Just smile! That round higher “cheeky” part that goes up when you smile? That’s the apple! The majority of your blush goes here.
- Now blend your blush back towards your temples. Don’t reload your brush, just use the remainder for this. This will blend everything together!
- Voilá! The perfectly sculpted cheek!

Have your ever just changed your hair color so dramatically and now you can’t figure out what lipsticks to wear? I just recently had this problem switching to bright blonde to a very dark brunette. I have fixed my little problem and thought I would share my top 5 new lipsticks that look great with my newly dyed dark brunette hair.
- MAC’s ‘Charmed I’m Sure’ from the Marilyn Monroe Collection. It is a beautiful blue red that is matte and gives a very 1950’s look when it contrasts with your dark tresses. MAC’S Russian Red is a very good duplication for this product. (more…)
