The weather is cooling down, class registration is starting up and we’re no longer thinking about the next time we’re hitting the beach. Instead, fall is rapidly approaching and we’re trading in our beach bags for bookbags and anxiously counting down the final summer days. Transitioning between summer and fall can be a headache; going back to rigid schedules, juggling work and acing your classes. It becomes easier to let our appearance get lost at sea while trying to stay afloat, amongst the many other responsibilities that leave little room for focusing on wardrobe and makeup. But have no fear, you can save face with these simple and quick makeup routines.
All you’ll need is L’oreal’s One Sweep Eyeshadow, Maybelline’s classic Great Lash Mascaraas well as their Pure foundation, and your favorite lip gloss. L’oreals new, convenient and innovative product combines eyeshadow and brow bone highlights on one compact. Paired with a uniquely designed brush, it only requires one clean sweep to give you a finished look. After your using your easy application One Sweep Eyeshadow you can add a touch of Maybelline’s Great Lash mascara. The classic mascara is famously known for its consistency and is guaranteed to stay put throughout the day.
Another amazing Maybelline product (we’re obsessed!) that you’ll want to keep in your bookbag is their Pure makeup foundation. The water based formula is very light and doesn’t get greasy, so you can reapply without having to worry about clogging your pores. To complete your effortless makeup routine, keep your favorite lip gloss on hand. (Personally, I always have a Lancome Juicy tube stashed in my on-the-go makeup bag.)
So where can you find the tools for your effortless look? Local drugstores carry most of these products (except for for the Lancome Juicy Tube). Not to worry – while you’re saving money on drugstore brands, you can splurge on the Juicy Tube, sold at cosmetic retailers like Sephora.
As for your hair, it can be a hassle to always go to class with freshly styled strands. Thankfully, some of the trendiest hairstyles for fall are braids and buns. Both are simple and classic, and can be worn casually or formally. Check out this CK mag article on how to do a fishtail braid, for a simple tutorial of the hot style! Throwing your hair into a ballerina bun or just back in a headband are other secrets to staying trendy, without having to do a lot of styling.
Keep these time-saving ideas in mind when you want to hit the snooze button or during the treachery of the back-to-school to ensure that you’re always a CK glam girl, even when school takes over!

Bold brows have been climbing the beauty trend chart for some time now with no signs of being plucked away. With so many celebrities taking on the full fledged brow it’s no mystery why it’s catching on and going mainstream. Not only is this look mysterious and alluring, but it’s also surprisingly easier to maintain. So ditch the tweezers and read on for a few ways to give your brows a chance to show you what they’re made of…
Besides being obvious, this tip is also going to save you a lot of, well, pain! Not only is plucking your brows painful, but we all know the only thing worse than a unruly brow, or even the cringe worthy uni-brow, is a non-existent one! Everyone’s had to suffer through pencil thin brows at one point or another, whether it was intentional or not. Over-plucking your brows leaves your face looking bare, which is the exact opposite of what you want this season. Unless your hair is extremely light in color, excessive tweezing will be noticeable, and in most cases, unflattering. So stop plucking and let your brow line fill in (with little maintenance here and there) and see where that takes you.
Tip: Take you’re time! Over-tweezing usually happens when you’re rushing and going to quickly. You’ll get the best bold shape going at a slower pace, even if that means one strand at a time!
This takes a little practice so try this on a day you have time for trial and error. Pick up a brow kit, which typically includes a shade to fill in your brows and a waxier, clear gel which you can use to tame stubborn, unruly hairs. Using a brow brush, carefully make gentle strokes in the same direction as your hair, to gradually blend in the product. You’ll have bold brows in no time! A great kit is Benefit’s Brow-Zing Kit, which comes in a compact perfect for taming brows on the go.
Tip: Picking a shade that closely matches your natural brow color is crucial to keeping the applied makeup look natural. Keep that in mind when picking out your product. Furthermore, if you really want to take the drama up a notch, chose one shade darker than your natural color.

We all love OPI’s seasonal collections, so here at CK we were super excited to hear about their 2011 Halloween collections, Spookettes and Pair ‘Em, Scare ‘Em.
The Spookettes collection includes four mini nail polishes in classic Halloween colors as well as a set of nail decals. A pumpkin-inspired orange titled He’s My Boo, a ghostly white called Mummy Knows Best, a classic black titled I Only Date Werewolves, and a special glow-in-the-dark green called Zom-Body to Love.
Pair ‘Em, Scare ‘Em includes just two shades, but the bottles are full-sized. The first is the glowing green Zom-Body to Love again, and the second is a classic black shatter polish. If you’re looking for polish you can wear more than a few days a year, this set is your better bet. But if you’re a girl who likes to go all-out with holiday festivity, you’ll love the Spookettes set!
