From Curly & Unruly to Pin Straight – Mastering Perfect Sleek & Straight Hair

September 20, 2012

Curly haired girl? You know how hard it can be to get that super sleek, smooth finished looked. There are a few easy tips and tricks that you can use to get the perfect sleek and straight hair from your curly and unruly hair.

  1. The first thing you want to do is untangle your hair.
  2. Once this is done, part your hair, and pin the rest of your hair up. I recommend starting from the first layer closest to your neck and going up from there. (more…)

Fired Up Triangle Mani

September 14, 2012

It’s been a hot summer so far, and what better way to spread the heat than to fire up your nails?

  1. You’ll need a clear base coat, yellow, orange and red nail polishes, as well as a clear top coat.
  2. The first thing you want to do is apply the clear base coat to protect your natural nails.
  3. Once this is done, paint your nails yellow.
  4. Now comes the tricky part, you want to make upside down triangles at the tips of your nails with the red nail polish. The trick is to try and make each nail have the same size triangle – or close to the same size, but this can be adjusted with the next step.
  5. You now want to use your orange nail polish and border the triangle with it. You can use a thin border or a thick border depending on how you like your nails. What’s good about using this orange border is that it can also hide any of the places where you may have messed up the triangle. After this, apply a clear top coat to your new manicure and keep things hot!

Frenchified! 6 Ways to Spice Up the Classic French Manicure

June 15, 2012

Reverse candy pink: If you love the color pink as much as I do, then you will definitely love the all-pink French manicure. Like the classic French, it still uses a base coat of a soft pink. The first step would be to apply two coats of your light pink base to all your nails. Then, instead of adding a white tip to the nail like the classic French, the tip would be a darker shade of pink. I love to use “Watermelon” by Essie for this look!

Neon tipped: If you’re a trendy girl, then you already know that this summer, neon will be everywhere. This is another great way to spice up the French manicure. You can use a base coat of white (or even soft pink if you prefer) and then add neon colored tip. A gorgeous color to use on your tips is “Funky Limelight” by Essie or the Instadry Sally Hansen “Lightening”. (more…)

Master Orange, Tangerine, and Clementine Colored Lips For Warm Undertones

June 13, 2012

Orange is everywhere this season, however, not every shade of orange is for everyone. Once you have found your perfect shade of orange, there are only so many ways you can learn to master it. The first thing you want to do is make sure that the rest of your makeup is kept as simple as possible. For an orange gloss, I recommend using a light and matte bronzer so that your skin doesn’t reflect the same orange hue as your lips. Keep your eyes simple: opt for the cat-eye look by extending the lining on your upper lash line out a little bit. Add a touch of mascara to complete the look. Of course, keeping it simple is not for everyone, you can always play around by only wearing mascara and adding a peach colored blush to your cheekbones.
