When I do my summer makeup I like to stick with a fresh faced look that says “I look good without trying”. Always remember to start off with a clean and moisturized face before putting on any makeup.

Braids. Braids. Braids! They are everywhere! With hundreds of versions to choose from, it can get a little overwhelming when trying out a new one. While the three strand, four strand and even five strand braids are intimidating, sometimes a braiding beginner may shy away from the challenge. Well, i’ve found a braid that is beautiful, unique and even first timer friendly! The ‘Brilliant Braid’! It’s a series of mini elastics strategically placed to give the illusion of a braid when complete! View the steps below!
Step 1 – Start with straight hair and gather to one side.
Step 2 – Secure with a thin elastic.
Step 3 – Separate the hair above your hands and put your fore finger and thumb through the hole.
Steps 4 & 5- Grab the bottom of your hair and flip it through the hole (This is the step you will repeat over and over until you reach the end of your ponytail!)
Steps 6-10 – Repeat Steps 4 & 5. After flipping each section, tug on the ends of hair to slide up the elastic. Feel free to adjust and loosen the ‘knots’ to get the braid to look as tight or loose as you desire.
Voila! This is a perfect style to add to your ‘last minute’ hair style stash! This braid looks fun and different, yet is so simple to create! Finally a braid that will steal attention without robbing all of your time! If you ask me, that’s what makes this braid brilliant!

Steps 1, 2, & 3: Start by taking a 1-2 inch section of hair on one side of your head (a little above your ear). Split that section into 3 pieces and start making a traditional (plait) braid.
Steps 4, 5, & 6: While making your braid, angle it so that it wraps around the back of your head. Then secure the end with a small elastic. Repeat on the other side of your head. (more…)
