The Classic Fishtail Braid

July 29, 2012

If you’re looking to make a splash this summer, look no further than the classic french fishtail braid. While there are many variations of this braid, the original definitely holds it’s ground. Follow the steps below!

  1. Start with loose hair.
  2. To make this braid easier, gather your hair to one side and secure tightly with an elastic.
  3. Divide hair into two sections. With this braid, you’ll transfer a piece from one section to the other. You will start and finish with only two sections.
  4. Keep taking one piece from one side and gather to the other. (For the best results, use small pieces!)
  5. Once complete, secure the end of the braid with an elastic. Remove the elastic from the top of the braid.

There you have it! This braid looks way more complicated than it actually is. But in reality, with only two pieces, this is one of the easiest braids to do! Enjoy!

The Heart Braid

July 9, 2012

The biggest mistake we can make with our hair is doing the same hair styles over and over again! In order to amp up your ‘do’, opt for a style thats bold and unique! There is no better way to show your hair some lovin’ than by mastering the ‘Heart Braid‘. See steps below!

  1. Section off the front of your hair. You’re going to make two separate braids that when complete and joined will resemble a heart!
  2. Grab a section of hair towards the back of your head.
  3. Begin french-braiding forward, (towards your forehead) instead of backward.
  4. Continue to french braid along your hairline, until you reach your ear. From here, continue braiding regularly. (more…)
