June 9, 2012

The beach is the go-to spot for hot summer days. Nothing is better than slipping into your bathing suit and relaxing poolside. The only thing that can ruin a perfectly good beach day? Razor burn. Razor burn can be the ultimate kill joy of your next beach trip if you’re not careful. Believe it or not, there are tips and techniques that can make all the difference when shaving your legs, under arms, and bikini area. Follow the below guidelines to ensure you’re taking proper precautions when shaving your sensitive flaunt worthy areas!

  1. Always start with wet skin. We’ve all made that mistake while in a rush or crunched for time… and then paid the price shortly after. Whether it’s a quick shave for a small area or not, you must moisten the area you’re shaving before you begin. Shaving naturally exfoliates, so skipping on the water not only can clog your razor with dead skin, but you can expect extra nicks and razor burn bumps by the time your finished. (more…)

Upgrading everything from our makeup and moisturizers, this is something we take very seriously as it will make a huge impact later on. But what about our skin cleansers? Aren’t they all created equally? – Not by a long shot! The fact that skin cleansers main purpose is to remove all the makeup, dirt, and oils from our skin can be a little misleading. What a lot of people don’t know is that if you don’t use the correct skin cleanser for your skin type, you can end up with dry, stripped skin that is anything but healthy. Which to Wear? Eau de Toilette vs. Perfume

May 1, 2012

First impressions are key. Whether you wow someone with your ensemble from afar or intrigue someones interest during a first conversation, you only get one first chance to impress. To enhance that moment to the full effect, awaken all of the senses. Fragrance are a great way to remain unforgettable but with so many options on the market, how do you get the most out of your favorite scent? Luckily, there are a few levels to choose from! When choosing between perfume, eau de toilette, and eau de cologne there are some facts to keep in mind. Depending on the impact you’re looking for, you’re bound to leave a delicious impression lingering.

When it comes to the battle between perfume and eau de toilettes, perfume will come on top in a couple of ways. Simply because perfume has a higher concentration of oils so the scent is stronger, lasts longer, and requires a smaller amount when applying. Perfume is also designed to reveal itself in layers over a period of time starting with top notes (which is the initial scent) and later unfolding into base notes that come out as time goes by. However, your eau de toilette & cologne isn’t quite defeated yet. Although it may not be designed to last as long, doesn’t mean that it won’t. There are other factors that play into the longevity of your perfume. Believe it or not, even your skin type will determine how many applications of fragrance you’ll need each day! People with oily skin get longer use out of fragrance because the oil in the product will mix with your natural oils and linger on the skin longer than those with dry skin. Eau de cologne and body splashes come in last when it comes to a long lasting scent but they are also cheaper so you can afford mid day touch-ups when necessary!

So keep in mind when deciding which choice is best for you that most fragrances come in all three options. Whether you are making your decision based on longevity, intensity or price, there is a level that is right for you. Perfume will give you the best bang for your buck, eau de toilette is a little cheaper and will linger until about mid day, and eau de cologne and body sprays don’t last as long as the other alternatives but the price is significantly lower so it’s less of a loss to spray more throughout the day. So make your choice and debut your new signature scent for spring. With the weather warming up scents are easier to pick up on. So start spritzing and this seasons your fragrance is bound to be your best accessory.
