Mastering The Red Lip (For Yellow Undertones)

October 2, 2012

Fall is finally here which means bold lips will definitely be taking front row in this season’s top trend. As the weather gets colder will start to see less light pinks and peachy tones and more deep tones. Burgundies, reds, plums and deep nudes are all part of this fall trend colors. Of course if you’re really daring you can go for those really dark vampy bold lips. In this tutorial, I’ll show all of you girls with yellow undertones how to apply a dark red lip color in six easy steps.

  1. Apply liquid foundation or concealer all around your lips. This will help with bleeding, and will help ensure an even tone when you apply lipliner.
  2. Outline your lips. Apply a lip liner that compliments the shade of your lipstick. Your lipliner should be able to blend into your lips not stand out as a different color. Lip liner is also very important because it prevents the lipstick from rubbing off outside of your lips. Since we are applying a bold tone keeping it nice and clean is always the key to completing the look.
  3. After outlining your lips apply the lipliner all over your lips this will make your lipstick last longer.
  4. Apply the lipstick directly from the tube.
  5. I always do this step just to make sure all of my lips are even. I get a lip brush and get a little bit of product from the lipstick tube and fill in around my lips concentrating on the outline of my lips.
  6. I clean my lip brush and get some liquid foundation/concealer and clean any lipstick marks that I have accidently made in applying it.
Voila!  Now you are ready to rock those sexy bold lips!
