I’ve always been a huge fan of looking to the past for inspiration. Especially when we live in a time where almost everything has been done before, why not take an old classic look, and revamp it for the modern-day! One of my favorite iconic styles is the pin-up girl! Vintage, a little edgy and extremely glamorous, this old school style is perfect for the modern-day girl. Check out the steps below to master this classic ‘do’!
Step 1 - As always, start with tangle free, brushed hair. This is totally up to you, but for the best, authentic looking results, curl all of your hair with a curling iron. This will add to the glam effect once it’s finished!
Steps 2, 3, 4, & 5 - Once all of your hair is curled, take the front section of your hair (you can start on whichever side you prefer!). Take a section and tease it from the back, then brush to smooth it in the front. Then, wrap it in a loop around 2-3 of your fingers. You’ll want to go in the natural direction of your hair, which is looping to the back. Once you loop your hair in to the scalp, secure with as many bobby pins as you need. Then hairspray that section.
Steps 6, 7, 8 & 9 - Now your ready to start on the other side. If you want to up the drama and add a dramatic side-swept bang, when making your rolls on this side, leave out a good-sized chunk of hair towards the front.
Step 10 - Take the piece we left out for your bangs, and give it a nice under curl with your curling iron. Feel free to do a once over and add any extra curls to the hair that remains down. Spray entire head with hairspray to finish!
Voila! You’re end result should fun, flirty and reminiscent of a by-gone era! This style is a well-loved classic and definitely a stand out in today’s time. So grab your hairspray and bobby pins and unleash your inner pin-up girl!
