For this tutorial, you will need:

  1. Three shadow shades - a light shade for all over coverage, a darker shade for a deeper layered effect, and the darkest shade to define the eye and bring all the color together.
  2. Mascara
  3. Eye Liner

  6. Eye Liner

If you’re a fan of the smoky eye, you know there is way more to it than smearing a layer of dark shadow on your lids. With that being said, that doesn’t mean it’s impossible to create a smoky eye, either. The trick is to achieve a sexy smoldering eye while making your natural eye color pop. Brown eyed girls can opt for a deep pink or plum shade. Follow the steps below for the perfect smokey eye.

  1. Sweep the lightest of your three shade across your entire lid. Be sure to sweep this lightly from the lash line to the brow bone to get even coverage.
  2. Dab your second (darker) shade on the ball of the eye (lower lid) from inner to outer corner to build color.
  3. Apply the same darker color to the bottom lash line underneath your eye. (For best results, use a small angled brush for this so you can use small feathered strokes.)
  4. Next, go back with the darkest shade and apply to the crease of your lid to really define that smokey eye. Also, follow up with this color to the lash line underneath your eye. This will wrap the eye with your color.
  5. Follow up with liner to define the eye.
  6. Finish with a layer of great lengthening mascara.

Now that you have mastered the steps to create the perfect smoky eye, mix it up! There are other shades that are ideal to showcase your beautiful brown eyes such as blue, plum, and some shades of green. Questions or comments? Ask in the comments section below!
